Why would a bag be inspected?

To protect you and your fellow passengers, and in accordance with Canadian security regulations, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is required to randomly inspect checked baggage. As part of this screening process, some checked bags are opened and physically inspected. If a bag is among those selected for physical inspection it will be conducted in the presence of a witness. At the completion of the inspection process, all contents will be repacked and a notification of inspection will be placed in the closed luggage to alert its owner of the additional security screening that has taken place.

Lost or damaged item?

If you have a lost or missing item, before filing a claim with CATSA or your airline, please call the Lost & Found at the appropriate airport.

You may submit a claim to CATSA by downloading and completing the CATSA Claims Form below.
